how I got here
My story
It all started when I was at a networking event…
My Background
I was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana, famously known as "The Last Best Place." My family was always adventurous, usually spending our days at the lake or in the mountains. If I were to describe the perfect day, it would be spent at McGregor Lake catching crawdads with our bare hands and later eating them over the fire we made, with melted butter and smoky marshmallows. That was my childhood. Little technology but lots of family.
From a young age, I loved creating. I was always doing arts and crafts; making piñatas with newspaper, creating Easter ornaments out of yarn, or those little clay bears that would take hours to bake. I did it all! At 10 years old, I started a YouTube channel called Crafty Pantz 101 (still up to this day). I posted videos of all the different slimes I would make and even bought all the necessities to start my own shop. Unfortunately, that plan never worked out, but it unveiled the entrepreneurial side of me that I would later need. As I continued to post, I grew more and more fond of creating content, something I could post online and share with the world. Little did I know, this little hobby would eventually become my career.
At 14, my family made the big move to Sarasota, Florida. That is where my journey really begins. I first joined the social media team at my church. Slowly learning more and more about the importance of marketing online, I decided to reach out to a local coffee shop offering my services. It was a long shot, but I thought to myself, at least I would try. I showed them some of my work from the church Instagram, and to my surprise, they accepted my offer. They were thrilled. I was thrilled. It was amazing. As I continued growing in my skill set, I decided that I wanted to fully pursue this career.
At 17, I left my marketing job in hopes of doing social media management full time. I attended networking events, went business to business, emailed, called, and essentially put myself out there. I thought this was going to be IT!
But things didn't go as planned. Despite my efforts, I struggled to find clients. Most people did not respond or just did not see the value of investing in their online presence. I was devastated. Then, one morning, when I was at a women’s networking event, I met a young lady who had worked in social media and influencer marketing for the last 10 years. I quickly made my way over to her to ask for some advice. As we talked, she mentioned wedding content creation, a concept I had never heard of. Intrigued, I went home and dove into research. What was it? Was it in demand? Could this be my next step?
After enough research, I decided to pause social media management and give wedding content creation a shot. I reached out to all of the local wedding planners, offering my services for free and explaining that I needed to build my portfolio. After many emails, most of which never got a response, I landed two clients, one elopement and one wedding. The rest is history!
Today, I’m proud to say I’ve made it as a wedding content creator, and I’m beyond excited for what’s to come. Capturing beautiful memories and helping couples relive their special moments through my lens is something I truly love. Storytelling has always been my passion, and I can’t even put into words how happy this makes me. It’s not just a job. It’s a hobby I get to live every day.
